Cheap, clean, and secure energy for our country is a big issue to me. I really like McCain's ideas for America about energy. He wants to reintroduce nuclear power. We haven't built any plants in the U.S. in over 30 years, and he plans to build about 45 new nuclear plants by 2030. The U.S. needs to start building these plants now so that we won't have to depend on other countries in the future for the components of the plants. Building these plants now will also create an estimated 700,000 jobs in the construction, engineering, and operations industries.
McCain also wants to push our country more to its own potential in the domestic oil and gas exploration. We have trillions of dollars worth of oil and gas reserves in the U.S. at a time we are exporting hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas to buy energy. This is the largest transfer of wealth in the history of mankind. The only thing stopping us from drilling m ore in the U.S. right now is the current federal moratorium in the Outer Continental Shelf. McCain plans to lift this mandate and lessen our foriegn dependency on oil. This will be a tremendous help to our country. I'm with McCain for the topic of energy all the way.

I liked and agreed with what you said about cheap and clean energy! I can't decide if i liked the "cheap" or "clean" aspect of it better. Just kidding, of course. But it does seem to me that there's quite the monopoly here when it comes to energy companies!
Energy was one that I never thought about in the presidential election. Of course I was concerned about the oil monopoly on the middle east, but hearing a course of action that could change that was a very nice thing to know. Good choice on a topic and excellent example given to support it.
Engery is a very interesting issue when it come to politics! I think cheaper energy is such a vital thing for the U.S. I like McCains views on this and think this could be a really helpful change to our economy and way of life here in America.
